Exhibition Visits

I had a really interesting weekend visiting exhibitions in London. I started at British Museum and went toGermany Divided Baselitz and his generation’ from the Duerckheim Collection. A collection of six prominent German Contemporary Artists of the 60’s and 70’s, Georg Baselitz, Markus Lupertz, Blinky Palermo, A.R Penck, Sigmar Polke and Gerhard Richter. A really exciting and informative exhibition consisting of ninety drawings and prints I recommend a visit.

After this I went to Gagosian Gallery ‘Farewell Bill’ Georg Baselitz which is on until 29 March. This was my first time at the gallery and it was a great experience. It was so different from seeing Baselitz smaller works on paper in the museum to seeing massive canvases in a huge gallery space. Another excellent exhibition of his work well worth seeing.

The next day I discovered Blain Southern Gallery ‘Northern Echo’ Rachel Howard which unfortunately has now finished. Once again my first visit to this gallery. A really great space very modern and contemporary. Howard uses oil and acrylic paint by adding and removing to create a surface that has a disintegration about them. This is an example of her work and the gallery space.
